WHO WE ARE
Hiding beneath a name that often elicits a head tilt followed by a narrowed gaze is a mini-manifesto: When we create, we don’t create for users, or target audiences. We create for people. Actual people. Specific air-breathing, synapse-connecting mixtures of bone and flesh who inhabit our lives. We conjure those humans whose esteem we desire — mentor, creative director, spouse, little sister, college friend, teenaged nephew, or young daughter, and we create for them. We create to delight, intrigue, inform, and entertain them. It’s your audience we’re speaking to, but we treat them like they’re ours. Because we believe the more any form of communication respects its audience, the more convincing, memorable, and understood it’s going to be.
Jonathan Herman learned his craft at Vancouver’s prestigious Emily Carr University, and upon graduation landed a job at what could arguably be considered one of the best design firms in the world, Pentagram, New York. After his time in New York, he returned to Canada where he worked at various design and advertising firms bringing a thoughtful, concept-driven approach to clients large and small. In early 2013, he embarked on a successful freelance career where he was the man-behind-the-brand for some of Calgary’s best-known institutions. He has been consistently recognized nationally and internationally by many design competitions and publications, including Communication Arts, Clios, D&AD, One Show, Graphis, AR 100, London International Awards and Applied Arts.
Stephanie Kochorek started out her career as a copywriter at the renowned Miami Ad School. Her first job out of school was at Venables Bell & Partners, one of San Francisco’s largest creative agencies. At VBP she helped create multi-faceted campaigns across the client roster, including Fortune 500 brands. After her time in the states, she relocated to Canada where she worked at some of Western Canada’s most notable agencies, including Rethink and WAX. Her work has been widely recognized by award shows including the Crystal Radio Awards, Lurzer’s Archive, One Show, Communication Arts and Applied Arts.
After graduating with a BA (Hons) and a BSc from Victoria University of Wellington, Jill's first role in advertising was at Clemenger BBDO in New Zealand. She liked it enough to stay for 10 years, working on a group of brands in the financial and education sectors as well as travel and tourism. Relocating to Calgary in 2010, Jill has created a strong personal and professional network and is known for being highly organized, responsive, strategic and a generally nice person. She is passionate about helping brands communicate and has a special interest in social media management, SEO, SEM and e-commerce. In her spare time, Jill sits on two boards: the Killarney-Glengarry Community Association and Digital Alberta. She also really, really likes craft beer.
